Sahara in Tempe
Sahara Restaurant in Tempe is a great little place, with slightly different styles and much less hubbub than some of the bigger more famous places around Tempe. This Tempe Middle Eastern Restaurant boasts some of the most delicious Falafel with a slightly different mixture of beans than I've had before. Plus, as a bonus, the more homey feel spills over into the presentation. Better than describing it, take a look for yourself, with the magic of my cell phone camera.

Sahara is located just south of University on Mill Ave on the west side of the street. Parking is a horrible challenge, but if you turn west on 9th St. and make the second right midblock, you'll get to their parking lot at the very end of the alley. Note: Turn into the alley, not into the first driveway.

Belly Dancers Galore

Finding a good food around the ASU campus in Tempe isn’t hard to do, but what if you’re interested in more than just a bite to eat? Travel down Apache Blvd off the 101 towards campus and you will find a wide variety of Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern restaurants to cure your boredom and your appetite. Oasis and King Tut’s, among others, supply comfortable, pillowed floor seating, Hookah, and delicious food to boot. Let’s not forget Oasis’s claim to fame: every weekend you can come in and watch the belly dancers do their thing and maybe sneak in a lesson or to for a few lucky customers.

Vegan? Vegetarian? Not a problem with Pita Jungle’s vegetarian friendly menu items and environmental awareness. But it’s not just for those who don’t eat meat: their menu has a wide variety with unique flavors. Traveling down Mill Ave? Stop over at Sahara; a small, family owned restaurant with the same great food that the other places offer but with one difference: you feel like it was made at home. Great for dinner and lunch!

Ra Sushi
Perhaps one of the most trendy and popular sushi bars of the valley has to be Ra Sushi. More often than not, the bar has more people and more excitement than the regular eating area. With great happy hour pricing on both sushi and drinks, it makes going there easy on the wallet... only if you know when to get there.

if you dont like low lighting, hearing everyone in the room talking, loud music, and great food, then Ra is not the sushi bar for you. But, with their specialty sushi that doesn't only provide a gorgeous meal for raw fish lovers but even those a little skeptical of the phrase 'sushi' all together. you do lose the authetic aspects of this tradtitional japanese food, but you gain a great experience in trying new things for both sushi lovers and those who are willing to try something new. plus the cocktails are great!
